Midd West Relay For Life - June 24-25

RelayForLifeLogo The 2011 Midd-West Relay for Life begins on Friday, June 24, at 4:00PM and goes through Saturday, June 5, at 4:00PM at the Beaver Community Fairgrounds, Beaver Springs.

Schedule of Events

Survivor Celebration is at 5:30PM on Friday,
Luminaria Ceremony 9:00PM on Friday.
Zumba will be Saturday at 9:00am
Kids Olympics Saturday at 10:00am
Basket Auction Saturday at 12:00 noon.
There will also be Food, Musical Entertainment, Games, and Bounce Houses.
Quarter Auction on Saturday
All you can eat Breakfast Buffet Saturday Morning.

Fruit House Construction

Building Harold Hassingers fruit house in Beavertown

Shown here is activity in the constuction of the Harold Hassinger fruit house in 1939. Shown left to right (upper): Donald and Harry Seebold and “Pet” Umholtz. Shown left to right (lower): Harry Wagner, Bill Wagner, Raymond “Buck” Zechman. Pet is operating a scoop being pulled by Harold Hassinger’s Caterpillar. Many thousands of cubic feet of red shale were evacuated and later a large cinder block fruit house was erected. This structure collapsed a number of years ago. A photo of the finished fruit house was published in an earlier Beavertown News.
