Beavertown Airport

(Courtesy of Kathryn Narehood)

Shown here is a view taken from Guy Narehood’s plane as he approaches his airport for a landing from the east. On some Sunday afternoons Guy would put on stunt flying exhibitions to the small crowd that usually gathered at the airport to see this excitement. His loop-the-loops and dead stick tailspins still resonate in my mind’s eye.

(Besides the landing field, what else comprised this airport? Answer next month.)

Answer to Last Month

Smith’s Dairy was operated by Jim Smith in the 1930s and 40s.

Clarence Baily had the Cold Spring Dairy and delivered milk from door to door in town also in that time period.

After this, the Thomas Brothers had their Cara Farms Dairy.

I think they were the only local dairy to have the pasteurizing and homogenizing equipment installed.
