The three business enterprises to be housed in the building to the left of the Kearns Motors building were (1) Dr. J. T. Stroehecker’s M.D. office on the first floor north side; (2) Dr. Stroehecker’s Drug Store on the first floor south side; (3) the Pennsylvania College of Telegraphy and Railroad Business on the whole second floor. These were all in the building at the same time. The college served Beavertown and surrounding communities, but many students from out of the area would come to Beavertown and take room and board at the Central Hotel or in private homes until their studies were completed. Upon graduation, most got immediate employment with the Pennsylvania Railroad Company somewhere in its vast system.
