Rose Garden 1948

(Courtesy of Kenneth Narehood)

Shown here to the north side of the Lutheran Church are a group of Beavertowners and others in 1948, digging and preparing for the Beavertown War Memorial Rose Garden. How many folks can you identify?

(How much annual rent must the Rose Garden pay to the Lutheran Church, owners of the ground, for the use of this land? Answer next month.)

Answer to Last Month

The only other war-bride that lived in Beavertown right after WWII, to my knowledge, was Mrs. Henry Sassaman, who was a beautiful English lady, with the nicest black hair I have ever seen.

They lived in the block house (just west of LK Auto Sales) on East Market Street, which was the former inn.

At this time Henry was employed driving a car transporter truck.
