This home shown here, which is a copy off of a glass negative, was the home and gunsmithing shop of Elias Specht. It was built by his brother, Moses Specht. It is owned today by Andrew Wagner, and is on Market Street. Elias and Moses were relatives of Don Getz and they were great uncles of your editor. Don’t miss seeing the rifle on display at the bank for one week starting April 8th.

Here is another rifle made by Elias Specht:

The Weis Pure Foods Store was located in the Kline Building, now owned by Carol Romig, at the nortwest corner of Market and Sassafras Streets here in Beavertown. The screen door on this building is still painted in the Weis colors of those times, and may in fact be the original screen door.

Some of the many others who had a business in the place where Eisenhauer’s grocery store (prior to Weis), Marlie’s Shoe Shop, Restaurants ran by George Doebler, Bill Saylor and Harold Hassinger. Our U.S. Post office was located here for about 25 years.
