Putting In Sewer Lines

(Courtesy of Cloyd W. Wagner)

Shown here is Walnut and Center Streets on July 12, 1969. The installation and operation of sewer lines was authorized by Ordinance #40, dated 2-11-69. The first Municipal Authority had Paul Bobb, Marlin D. Rearick, Samuel L. Herman Sr., Clarence J. Middleswarth, Clarence Walker, and perhaps one or two more serve on it.

(Beside the council and authority, can you name one more borough body in Beavertown? Answer next month.)

Answer to Last Month

The first public transportation provided for Beavertown was the stagecoach. After this, the train, until 1931. Greyhound Bus Lines from 1931 to 1934 took up the slack, but the depression cut their business and they discontinued service to us. Next the Lepley-Kline bus lines from the 1940s to the 60s.

Of course, for the venturesome, there was also the U.S. Mail Bus.
