Shown above is the dedication of the first church in 1934. In this photo, having met in the old Dreese’s School they are now walking to the new church. The church congregation itself began in February 1932, and is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 1997. Today they have a magnificent house of worship, and recently purchased seven adjoining acres for future expansion. If their past is a guide, they will most certainly use this added land in a few years.

The Black Horse Tavern in 1817 probably had a livery service, but we can’t document this. We know there was Shirk’s Livery in the alley behind the present Albert’s Barber Shop in the early 1900s.
The property of the editor when owned by the Kern family, had a large barn-straw shed. When horse and mule auctions were held at the Central Hotel, animals were liveried here.
