This photo appeared in the Lewistown Sentinel on November 18, 1986. The caption reads, “The Brooklyn Hose Co. personnel ride in a fire truck that appears to be from the 1920s. The sign on the runner of the truck credits the truck’s construction to Eureka Auto Co., Beavertown.” The editor has some questions about this information.

(What was the Eureka Auto Co. of Beavertown? Answer next month.)

Answer to Last Month

The silk mill began its more recent expansion by building two additions in 1963, and further added to the mill in 1965, 1968, two in 1982, one each in 1986, 1988, and finally in 1991, making a total of 9 additions on its 15.488 acres of land before it was closed in November, 1998.

Conestoga is now remodeling some of these additions, and buying more land to facilitate its operations.
