Answer to Last Month

Johnny P. Kearns operated a used vehicle business called the Eureka Car Company in Beavertown. He was also a new tire and inter-tube dealer.

In last month’s BN, we showed a photo of a firetruck used in Lewistown. It credited the manufacture of this truck to the Eureka Car Company of Beavertown. If it was made here, it would have been a Kearns, not a Eureka. In 1907, J. P. Kearns did make Eureka Motor Buggies, but soon thereafter, his son Max took over and operated as the Kearns Car (and later truck) Company. So, it is most likely this was a Eureka used vehicle.
