Shown here is the 1939 B.V.H.S. Debating Team. From left to right we see Henry Moyer and Ada Jane Romig, (deceased). She was the only team member not from Beavertown. Next is Miss Hemingway, Coach, Edwin Freed, and Jack Kearns. The two latter members won all debates. The first two members had only one win, but that was over Selinsgrove who later won the state championship.
(Where are the three Beavertown debaters today? Answer next month.)
Answer to Last Month
Many fun groups existed in Beavertown in the past. Some were organized, like the Beavertown Checkers Club, and the Beavertown Literary Society (which wrote mainly satire poking fun at Beavertowners). Some were not organized, like the Fantastiks, who paraded dressed up in costumes on New Year’s Day, and then partied, sometimes way too much. (Report any others to the BN.)
