We honor our Mayors in this column from time to time, but I want to remember Bill for much more than his 8 years of public service to our borough. However, first I want to also honor him for his war service during WWII. Even more, he was in the 4th Infantry Division which was one of our elite divisions to hit the Normandy coast on June 6, 1944, D-Day. Thus he indeed was one of the “Finest Generation”! We all salute you Bill!

As Mayor, Bill served from January 1982 to December 1989, serving two terms with great distinction.
